SureFire has released the latest episode of its popular Surefire Field Notes video series. Episode 48 features Jeff Gonzales of Trident Concepts, LLC. Gonzales discusses active shooter considerations for those who carry concealed.

Gonzales served with the U.S. Navy SEALs as an operator and an instructor on both coasts during his military career, and has been using SureFire products since the late 1990s. As president of Trident Concepts, he continues to train civilian firearm owners, and he is one of the foremost experts in the practice of concealed carry for self-defense purposes.

Gonzales discusses two over-arching tactics that should be employed in a worst-case active shooter scenario, breaking each of them down into more specific actions, and how citizens who carry concealed should interact with law enforcement, which may include uniformed and/or off-duty officers. He also discusses situations where more than armed citizen may be engaged in the scenario.

“One of the things that is unique about the United States is the fact that we are an armed society,” Gonzales said. “So, we do have to take responsibility for ourselves rather than wait until the last minute. It’s all about the planning. It’s all about the communicating. Let’s take the time to do that now.”

Gonzales also appeared in SureFire Field Notes Episode 30, where he discussed considerations for concealed carry in the workplace. To view Episode 30, CLICK HERE.
