SureFire has a released a new video in which Barry Dueck, SureFire Vice President of Suppressors & Weapons, discusses options for users of 5.56 mm rifles and .223 caliber rifles.
The video discusses optimal suppressor choices based on barrel length, starting with the SureFire SOCOM556-RC2, which is designed specifically for use with 5.56 mm (.223 caliber) weapon systems featuring a minimum barrel length of 10 inches. The SureFire SOCOM556-RC2 showcases SureFIre’s know-how in cutting-edge suppressor design and incorporates the latest in manufacturing techniques and materials to produce the finest tool of its kind. For rifles with barrel lengths of 14.5 inches and longer, Dueck recommends the SOCOM556-MINI2, which packs virtually all the attributes of the popular SOCOM556-RC2 suppressor in a more compact package. The MINI2 measures a mere 5 inches in overall length, placing a premium on efficiency while maintaining the quality that is synonymous with every SureFire suppressor. The MINI2 delivers a significant decrease in back pressure, cyclic rate and gas blowback, which yields a tremendous reduction in sound and dust signature, and virtually undetectable first-round flash when it matters most.
For short-barreled rifles, which Dueck says can be far more ammunition-finicky when it comes to accuracy, SureFire created the SOCOM556-SB2. The SB2 incorporates an extremely low back pressure design and stealthy sound attenuation in a suppressor optimized for rifle barrels of 10 inches or less. It weighs a mere 17 ounces and can add as little as 3.8 inches to overall weapon length for easy carry and handling. The SB2 decreases back pressure, cyclic rate and gas blowback for a tremendous reduction in sound and dust signatures with virtually undetectable first-round flash. It matches supreme quiet and stealth in one compact unit.
