Maybe this has happened to you: You’re at the range, working in your shooting bay when all of a sudden you’re whacked by the ear-splitting sound of the person next to you as they fire their muzzle brake-equipped rifle. It’s unpleasant, to say the least. It can also be dangerous to your hearing even if you’re wearing proper protection. That’s just one scenario that makes the SureFire Warden Blast Regulator a valuable accessory. It enhances safety by directing a muzzle brake-equipped rifle’s blast pressure where it belongs, forward of the muzzle.

SureFire Warden Blast Regulator
Unlike a muzzle brake, the SureFire Warden Blast Regulator directs blast concussion forward of your weapon’s muzzle, enhancing safety at the range or anywhere else others could be affected by the side blast from a fired round.

You probably already know a muzzle brake helps reduce recoil and muzzle rise by partially diverting the gases that propel the projectile down a rifle’s barrel. Muzzle Brakes typically expel this diverted gas to the left and right of the muzzle. You might also know that SureFire SFMB muzzle brakes are designed to minimize side blast and rear-directed concussion effects.

SureFire Warden Blast RegulatorHowever, no muzzle brake completely mitigates these pressures, and that can be an annoyance at ranges where the shooting stations are in close proximity. In addition to affecting the shooter, the impulse noise and blast pressure exiting the muzzle brake may negatively impact the hearing of others to the right or left of the shooter even when proper hearing protection is worn. Some ranges in the U.S. actually prohibit the use of muzzle brakes because of it, but even if they didn’t, ask yourself if you really want to be “that guy” who irritates your fellow shooters when there’s an easy way to prevent it.

The Fast Attach® version of the Warden can be easily attached and removed in about 2 seconds. SureFire also manufactures a direct-thread version.

That’s where the Warden proves itself. Because it directs the impulse noise and concussive blast of the fired round forward of the weapon system, it reduces the overpressure felt by others to the left and right of the shooter’s firing position. Furthermore, it offers an additional benefit, limiting any dust or debris signature from a muzzle brake-equipped weapon if you’re firing from a prone position. It’s important to note that the Warden is not a suppressor, nor is it designed to mitigate a rifle’s sound signature. That said, it’s also not regulated by the National Firearms Act, so it is available wherever SureFire products are sold, without any of the restrictions associated with suppressors.

Like all SureFire suppressor products, the Warden is built to last a lifetime. Precision-machined of rugged stainless steel, heat-treated for added strength and coated with a durable Cerakote™ finish, it’s every bit as durable as our SOCOM contract-winning suppressors. Also, since it’s a mere 3 inches long and only adds about 6 ounces to the weight of the weapon, you’ll hardly notice when it’s attached. SureFire offers the Warden Blast Regulator in two versions. The first attaches to any SureFire SOCOM 5.56 mm or 7.62 mm muzzle device via the same patented Fast-Attach® system found on SureFire SOCOM Series suppressors; it makes attachment/removal of the Warden quick and easy in any environment. The second is a direct-thread Warden that enhances the appearance of any weapon with a 1/2-28 or 5/8-24 threaded barrel while also protecting the barrel’s exposed threads against damage or fouling.
