SureFire attended the Practical Competition Shooting League 2021 P2G Championship at Cobalt Kinetics’ range in St. George, Utah, in December. This was the second of two PCSL P2G Championship matches to take place at the venue this year, the first taking place in April. You can click on the video above to catch an event overview.

For those not familiar, the PCSL P2G format is designed to accommodate true fighting weapon configurations that are more likely to see real-world use, so you don’t need competition-oriented equipment in order to be competitive. Shooters were able to choose between two divisions, Competition and Practical. The Competition division allows any gear and accessories with no optic restrictions. The Practical division also does not restrict modern optics, but it prohibits the use of muzzle brakes and lightweight bolt carriers and requires 30-round magazines.

P2G also incorporates USPSA-style hit-factor scoring to determine the outcome. Basically, the hit-factor scoring formula considers the points earned divided by the time it took to earn them. SureFire congratulates overall winner Joe Farewell, who also claimed the Practical division win. Competition division shooters Kyle Litzie and Zack Smith finished second and third overall respectively.

About PCSL
The Practical Competition Shooting League (PCSL) is being built from the ground up with a focus on the three groups that make the sport great: shooters, staff, and industry sponsors. For competitors, not only are we building epic matches and championships, but we’re also creating a rulebook to serve as a framework for clubs around the country. We want a league that shooters and clubs are excited about, not beholden to. We’re here to serve you, not the other way around.

We are extremely grateful for all the staff who give of their time and skills to help run matches. We are committed to everyone who helps to make PCSL events possible, and the lion’s share of the proceeds from every match go right back to the staff. We believe that if we take good care of our staff, they’ll take good care of our shooters.

Industry sponsors make all our events possible, and we sincerely appreciate all the physical goods, monetary contributions, and range assistance they provide. We support our sponsors with high-quality video content created at events and also schedule time for shooters to mingle with our sponsors between shooting.
