Tatiana Whitlock
Tatiana Whitlock of Training in Context is a veteran firearms trainer who teaches concealed-carry techniques to responsible citizens from all walks of life. Her EDC kit is a reflection of her philosophy based on years of experience.

The founder of Training in Context, Tatiana Whitlock has been teaching individuals from all walks of life to take charge of their own personal safety since 2014. Her curriculum provides students with the tools to be well-informed and well-trained firearm owners and to put into practice proper skills that exemplify those principles and could save a life someday.

One of the core foundations of Training in Context is that this is a 24/7 responsibility. It doesn’t end at the range. Whitlock’s EDC kit reflects her dedication to being prepared.

Whitlock EDC Gear Dump“For an everyday concealed carry bag, I enjoy the utility of a Ukoala Bag for its organization and versatile wearing options,” Whitlock says. “What goes into it? First and foremost, in the bag’s large flat back pocket, the Dark Angel Medical D.A.R.K Blue Line med kit takes a central role. I’ll also carry a CAT tourniquet as well in one of the bag’s other pouches.”

Beyond the med kit, Whitlock’s EDC is pretty straightforward, and she prefers to keep her items simple and specific.

“The Magpul DAKA Everyday Wallet and the KEYBAR key organizer are my favorite solutions to reduce the two bulkiest EDC items we all tote around,” Whitlock says. “Along that same theme, I prefer the sleek and lightweight SureFire Stiletto for its lumen output and versatile settings. Other EDC items include a Skallywag Tactical blade and POM Industries pepper spray. My go-to summer carry gun is the Walther Arms PPS with RMS red dot, carried IWB appendix, in a T-Rex Arms Side Car holster. I prefer not to dress as a tactical Inspector Gadget or carry more gear than I really need. Just the essentials; bullets, med, lumens, spicy treats, a little bling and I’m good to go!”
