In SureFire Field Notes 67, Kerry Davis of Dark Angel Medical demonstrates how to properly apply a tourniquet, a crucial skill that can save a life when done properly, or cause more complications when done improperly.

Davis demonstrates various techniques for proper tourniquet application on an arm or leg. Which technique you use will be determined by whether or not you can identify where the victim’s bleeding is coming from. Davis points out that applying a tourniquet will cause pain to the victim, so you should be ready for that. He cites one study that has shown some 78% of tourniquet applications are done improperly because the applicant is afraid of hurting the victim. The most vital aspect of tourniquet application is to keep the blood in the body where it belongs. You can watch SureFire Field Notes 67 by clicking on the video link below.
